Welcome to Beverley
The historic market town of Beverley is perhaps best known for its awe-inspiring Beverley Minster, North Bar, Beverley Westwood and race course.
The Beverley Minster is regarded as a gothic masterpiece, one of the finest in Europe, dating back to 1225. Standing proudly above the town, the views of the iconic Beverley Minster welcomes visitors from all over the world.
Beverley’s North Bar is a 15th Century gate located between North Bar within and North Bar without, close to St Mary’s Church. It is a Grade 1 listed building and is recorded in the National Heritage List for England.
The Beverley Westwood is a beautiful, open space of lush green grass and rolling hills on the edge of the town. It is ideal for daily exercise, keen golfers and is a fantastic area for families to enjoy. Cattle roam freely grazing on the pastures.
Beverley offers a superb variety of shops and amenities for all tastes and ages. The bustling Saturday market, located in the market square, takes place religiously every week offering everything from clothes to food stalls. A smaller market on a Wednesday (again every week) is located at the opposite end of the town. As well as a vast array of shops on the high street, a new shopping centre has been established on Flemingate offering everything from Starbucks, Costa, Parkway cinema, Tomahawk Steakhouse to H&M and River Island - to name but a few!
If you enjoy good food, Beverley is definitely the place for you with many top restaurants and bars dotted all over the town. The Westwood Restaurant is one of East Yorkshire’s favourite places to enjoy great British dishes in a classy and relaxing atmosphere. If you fancy a Michelin restaurant then Whites Restaurant is a must. Whites is a small, intimate restaurant situated close to the North Bar.
